I don't know why but Dad and Uncle "Gig" framed the top of the cellar entrance with pressure treated wood. They then screwed the bulkhead door to the frame. I'm not planning on doing that. I want the new bulkhead to sit right on top of the foundation so that the flashing at the top of door will fit better, although the old way worked fine.

Both sides of the stairwell have a huge crack where the stairwell wall meets the foundation. It was patched over sometime in the past, but the patch is crumbling.
